(Per Press Asaociation.)
Blenheim, last night,
At tho annual meeting of tho Marlborough Land and Railway League yeas terdßy, tho President (Mr B. F. Goplter) in bis Bddreßß advocated the connection of Blenheim with the Weet Coast system of railways via Tophouse. Ho quoted from W. W. Blair’s report in 1886, showing that such a connection with the Nelson section at Motupiko wiuld only cost £390.000, as against more than a million by tho east coast to Waiau. There was abundance of bituminous coal in the vicinity of Tophouse, in the upper Bullet valley, equal to that at Greymouth and Weßfpcrt; also an unlimited timber, stone, and nrneral supply. The League is again urging the Government to push on tho railway to Flojbo'urno township.
