The first experiment by tho Marine Hatphery Board to introduce European lobsters into New Zealand wtars has tmfi with only a stna'i degree of success so far. The Raramea, whiph arrive! to-day, brought two lobsters alive out of 25 shipped. The lobsters wpre sent from Plymouth to Rendon packed in straw, in two hampers, and on May*!) h they were placed ia oharga cf the chiif engioeer of the Karamea. By the instructions of the Plymouth Biologio.il Laboratory the water was only changed twioe in the fist two days. Tbo lobsters rover stented to recover vitality after the journey to London, and by 17 days out from London only two remained. Theso wire landed to day and placed ia an observation tank. One has still soldo ova att ched, and it is possible it may bo batobod cut and reared.
