At the Polioe Court to-day Henry Deaoon Rayner, recently extradited from Sydney, was remanded till July 4th on a charge of embezzling funds belonging to the District Grand Lodge of Druids, Canterbury dietriot. Acoused was formerly secretary to' the lodg", and the amount involved is about £SOO, Blenheim, la3t night. At a meeting of the B e ffieim brauh of the Post and Telegraph Association resolutions were passed supporting the aotion of the Executive in their endeavors to I have a Superannuation Bill passed this session. A petition is now being largely signed by Government effiesrs for presentation to Parliammt at an early date. A Shakespeare club haß been formed at Blenhtim.

A large and enthu-ias'io meeting was held to-night for the purpose of raising a memorial to tho late Mr SedJon. A representative oommittee was appointed, and lists will be distributed throughout the district. It was deoided to rail a publio meeting when the lists are in, and let the subscribers decide what form the memorial Bbould take. The list was opened in the room, and close on £6O subicribed. Auckland, last night.
An adjourned meeting cf tho Eden Lioenßing Committee was held to-day, wbeD, in consequenoe of the reduction vote oarried at last poll, licenses bad to be reduced by cne. The license tefused was the New Lynn Hotel, situated in a sparsely populated district. The remaining three lioenees, Avondale, Junotion, and Epsom Hotels were granted. At a meeting of the Manakau Lioensing Committee, in whose district reduction was aleo carried, it was decided to oanoel the licenses of the Royal and Victoria Hotels, both in Onehunga. A body found on the beach yesterday has been identified as that of Van Moort, who was drowned in tho Ilokitik river a fortnight ago. At the inquest of John Nolan, killed by a fall of earth in a olaim at Marsden, a verdict of accidental death was returned, Timaru, last nigh*.
The Timaru Harbor Board, at a special meeting to-day, decided to promote a Bill seeking legislative sanction to an increase in the number of country representatives on the Board by two. At present there arc eight country members to three town members.
