REPORT,

The Shipping Commissioners’ report has been published. The whole report is practically an advocacy of a national licet, owned and run by the Federal Government; recommends a licet of eight turbine steamers, two thousand tons larger
than the present ships ; to have a speed of sixteen knots, each costing £075,000. A fortnightly service is estimated to cost £1,207,000 yearly. Received 1.10 a.m„ June 30.
