A BAD NEIGHBOR.

Dunedin, last night.
At KaitaDgata to-day William Thompson, a miner, was committed for trial on a charge of discharging a fro urn with intont to do grievous bodily harm to ono William Ftbbca. The case for the prosecution wsb that accused, who wia BOinewbaJr > under the influence of drink, called at Fibbes' house, and used abusive language He was turned off the property and severely handled. Accused, who lived in a tent some 150 yards away, returned shortly after and again U3ed abusive language, inviting Fibbes to come cut and be would do for him. When ho saw Fibbes, it is alleged, he discharged a pea rifle, and Fibbes heard a bullet pare his face. Fibbes again dealt with Thompson, who was taken homo. Mr Hanlon, who ap peared for accused, could not cross*, examine the principal witnesp, a daughter in law of Fibbes, as she was indisposed, and as he said no doubt a prima faoie case had been made out, be would not keep the case open longer. .
