A LITTLE GIRL’S FALL

A child named Elsie Whitehouse, injured by a fall from a train, died this morning.

Tuesday’s Auckland Herald states : An accident happened yesterday morning on the railway, botween Avondale and New Lynn. A little girl fell from a train in motion, and was seriously injured. It appears that a Mrs Whitehouse, wife of Ed. Whitehouse, settler of Matakohe, with four ohildren, left Auckland by the quarter to twelve a.m. train for Matakohe. One of the children, Elsie, 10 years of sge, was on the platform of the carriage, in oompany with her eight year-old brother. Leaving Avondale station there is a steep down grade, and a curve close to the Avondale brick works. Here the ohild fell from the train, and 14 is supposed was thrown oS when the train weg rounding the curve. It was necessary to open the skull to stop the bleeding of the ruptured artery.
