MR BRAUND'S APPEAL.
(For Press Aenooiatioii.)
Wellington, last night. The appeal of Victor Braund against the decision given at Dunedin by Judges Edwards and Cooper respecting Braund’s application for an order that the books of Hie late Colonial Bank be not yet burnt was mentioned at the Court of Appeal this morning. Braund was not quite ready to go on, though he said he had endeavoured to carry out the terms on which leave to appeal was granted. Mr Fraser desired to proceed forthwith. Mr Braund contended he had been handicapped in Wellington by inability to procure leading counsel, all of whom had been retained by other parties. lie had been compelled to conduct his own ease, and was absolutely not ready. He was a layman, and had had a very heavy ease to prepare. Eventually the Court intimated it would hear the ease at 2 this afternoon, and insisted on this arrangement, although Braund said he could not possibly be ready by then.
