SALE AT MATAWHERO YARDS,
IMPROVED PRICE FOR SHEEP,
There was a large a‘tendanoe at the fortnightly stock sales held at Matawbero yesterday, and good business was reported. Mr G. R. Wyllie sold on behalf of Messrs I Williams and Kettle and Messrs Murray. Roberts and Co., and Mr J. B. Kell- for Messrs Common, Shelton aud 00. and Messrs Dalgety and Co. There was an improved demand for sheep over the previous sale, but the oattle market was dull.
I Messrs Williams and K-t'le report: - I There was a targe attendance at our sale and good business was done Our yarding of Bbeep totalled about 4003, and nearly all the lines were oloared at improved prioes over last sale. Ewes in | lamb were in demand, and sold up to 12s • store wethers made from 14a 5d to 15a 7d* whilst fat wethers, light weights, sold up to 16 1 lid ; hoggets realised 9< to 9a 83. It was a dull sale for oattle, but what were I sold were quitted at late market prioes. All tbe pigs entered were sold, po-liars going at 15s to 20s, aud fat sows up to I £2 6s, I
Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and 00. report Our yarding of sheep was not so large as usual. There was an improved demand for all classes, and prices were better than at tbe previous sale. Pat wethers sold up to 17s 7d and | store wethers at 33j 103 j fat ewes were done up to 13s 9d and store ewes at 9s 6d; hoggets sold at 7s. There was little competition for the cattle entered. A small entry of young stock add from 24s to 30s. Pigs were in good demand, small porkers selling at 13s 63, and others at 16s 6d.
