(Par Presa Association.) Christchurch, last night. In connection with the death of an 18months’ illegitimate infant at Lincoln recently the police have laid an informa tion charging the mother, a young girl of 17. and the grandmother, with manslaughter, tic allegation being that the ohild was starved to dosth. The child at the time of death weighed only 61bs. Dunedin, last night.
Henry Williamson, resdiDg in Roslyn, was received into the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was ont shooting at the Halfway Bush, and in getting through some gorse, his gun went off, the oharge lodging in the abdomen. His condition Is considered serious.

At the Supremo Court to-day Thomas McCusker was oenvioted of having oonspired to defeat the ends of justice, and wa9 ordered to pay a fine of £2l. Blenheim, last night. . Attempts to get the steamer Waihi off the beach at Wairau bar have failed.
