SUPPRESSION OF BETTING.

In the Sonato Mr Smith gave notice of motion that a litni'ei number of press messages on matters of public interest be carried free over the Pacific Gable.
A largo deputation, representing amoDgst others, tbe council of churches, friendly sreieties, commercial and labor interests, and sporting bodies, asked Mr Bant to take effective steps to suppress gambling. Mr Bant, in a sympathetic reply, stated that an Anti-gambling Bill had been prepared.
