A smell of flee wts noticed on the Gothio on Sunday. Nest day it was discovered that number four bold was seriously on fire. A quantity of burning oargo was jettisoned, and tbe steam in* jected into tbe hold, tbe fire apparently being extinguished. On Wednesday the smell of firo was renewed-

By Thursday morning tbe fire bad made considerable headway. Tbe passengers were advised to dmembark at Plymouth.

When the hatches were lifted there was dense smoke, Two Government tugs gave assistance.

Failing to extinguish the fire the Gothio was towed to Outtwater. The seacocks were opened and the steamer beaohod. Last night the fire had extended to the saloon, a largo hole being burnt in the fbor.

The vessel has a very heavy list, and there are fears that the vessel will topple over as the tide ebbs.
