I A meeting last night elected a com' mittee to wait on the Licensing Commit* lee to ask that re-building be not demanded until after the next general eleo tion. The opinion was expressed that an injustice had been done. Christchurch, last night. At the Ricoarton Licensing Comm'ttee to day the Chairmen stated that the c mmittee had no autbori y to order an hotel to be re built. All the power it p:ss°s°ed I was to return a license if a house wo-e unsatisfactory. Toe owners of tbreo hotels were given 12 months in whioh to build housrs that would be sßisfao’ory. Meanwhile licenses will be issued for tbo present p emises. If at the end of the-time given there is no satisfactory bouses to re plaoe the present buildings the liornses will be withheld.

Auckland, last night. The Mauukau L’ceasing Committco met t:~day, and granted all but five app’icalions. Tco oommi.tee will inspect those hotels, and meet again tbreo weekßheirc . It is understood that the committee propose to olese two hotels.

The Eden Committee also considered the question of reduotion in accordance with the result cf the poll. They will visit the various hotels, and hear evidsree as to pub'ij convenience beforo dtoiding which hotel shall be closed.
