SALE AT MATAWHERO. IYARDS.

GOOD DEMAND FOR SHEEP.

D spite tho threatening state of the Weather yesterday, there was a largo aiteudanoe at the . Matawhero slock sales, when the several firms held their fortnightly sales. There was a large yarding, and takiDg tho salts right through thero was an improved demand for both sheep and cattle. Fat wethers sold up to 17s Id, whilst threo-year-old steers made up to £4 15s. A very nico line of bollocks was offered by Messrs Dalgety and Co, but were passed in at £6 6s, the owner preferring to deal privately. Mr G. R Wyllie conduo'ed the sa'e for Messrs Williams and K°ttle, and Messrs Kells and Waohsmsnn for Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. respettively. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co and Dalgety and Co. report as follows: We bad a failly largo yarding of sheep, and the demand for all classes was good, fat wethers especially being in keen demand. The latter sold up to 17s Id, and forward stores from 12s to 14s 6d; oull ewes realised 7s 5d and oull hoggets 3s. There were several fine exhibits in tbe yarding of cattle. Yearling steers sold up to 37s 63, and dairy oows from £3 10s to £5 A good line of bollocks were passed in at £6 6s. Messrs Williams and Kettle repoit. Our yarding consisted of about 6000 sheep, tbe demand for which was muoh better than at the last sale. Wethers and hoggetß fetched better value. Store wethers sold frem 15s 31 to 15s 6J and four and five-year-old ewes from 10s to 11s.; hoggets made from 8)91 to 10s, and cull hoggets sb. Old ewes realised 6s to 63 63, and potters 2s 6d to 3s. Ia oittle upwards of 600 bead were yarded, and with the exception of about 50 bead all were disposed of. Eighteen months to two-year-old steers sold up to £3 ss, and three-year-old steers £4 10s to £4 15s; yearling steers made from 33s to 355, and weauerß, mixed sexes, 25s to 275. Old oows fetched £2 to £2 10s. The sale of cattle was on the whole a very satisfactory one. About thirty pigs were entered, and all were disposed of, tbe prices, being about the same as ruled at last sale.
