Palmerston North, last night. In the Mounted Rifles contests to day tbo Huoterville tsam won with a score of 568 points. The annual Clarkson bicycle road raoe of £SO, distance 85 miles, was run lo day. There were 87 starters from all parts of the colony. Tbo winner was A. E, Standee (Carterton), A'Greenlesa (Aramoho) second, John Sccbie (Longhorn) third, A. Donald (Palmerstoe) fourth. The winner, who had 45tnina start, took sbrs 16mins to complete tho jeurcey, part of which was over a stretch of sand.

The Minister of Lands, Mr T. Y. Duncan, and the Government Veteri. narian, Mr J. A. Gilruth, left by the Mararoa to night - to attend the winter show of the Otago A. and P. Association. The .Wellington footballers to-day defeated Wairarapa by 62 points to 9. The Wellington score comprised 16 tries, 10 conversions, and a penalty goal. H. D. Thomson got 3 tries; Gardiner, Itoborts, Wallace and ltamsden, 2 each; Alexander and McGregor 1 each. Wallace kicked 4 goals, Spencer 4, and Roberts 3. The Wairarapas got' 1 try and 2 penalty goals. .
