A GIRL’S DEATH.
DOCTORS’ SEOREOY,

Dunedin, last night.
Commenting on the inquest in regard to tbe death of tbe girl Matthewßon, the Oiago Daily Times says it was perfectly evident the medioal practitioner into whose hands she was put committed a serious error of judgment in maintaining reticence over the matter until the death hail oocurrea. While the gul' lived the motive for seoreoy In regard to her movements during the twelve days prior to her death wss not bo overwhelming as lo positively ensure tbe lips of those acquainted with her whereabouts being sealed. The moment she died, however, it beoame a matter of importance to those implicated that her death should oover up the tracks as effectually as possible Owing to the cironmstanoeß it is likely there would have been less than ordinary difficulty in procuring a conspiracy of silenoe, more especially sioos it was probable that the persons in whose charge the unfortunate girl was during that period were Beleoted on aooount of their want of principle.
