COURT CASES.
(Per Press Association.) Wolliußton, last night. At tlu' Supremo Court yesterday Hope Taimru, who had pleaded guilty to theft at Hastings, was sentenced by the Cruel Justice, Sir liobort Stout, to six months imprisonment, joint MeCusker, tor stealing from a dwelling at Napier, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment. James Kennedy, alias George Cleary, ioi throe olYonee, of false pretences and one of forgery, received a sentence ol two years’ imprisonment.
Palmerston N., Saturday. At the S.M. Court this morning, William Marigold was committed to trial at the Supreme Court sittings at I’ahusrston North next month for a cowardly assault on an aged Chinaman, Lee lling. 'I ho unfortunate Celestial was much knocked about the head and lace. Tito evidence showed the assault was entirely unpto* voked.
