ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

Wellington, last night. A fatal accident occurred about 10.16 last night on the eleotrio tramway. Darnel Duggan, a single man, boarded the Oriental Bay oar at Courtenay plaoa. J.be oar had not proceeded far when Doggan jumped from the oar against one of the tramway post?, smashing his skull. Dug gan died in ten minutes. Fred Parara, a single man, aged 2d years, formerly a steward on the steamers Penguin and Mapourika, while woikmg on the etaamer Aparima about 5 o'olook yesterday, fell several feet, and was killed. At an inquest concerning the death ot Captain Short (a retired shipmaster, aged 76, found in the bedroom with his throat out) it was shown deoeased had been eufferlDg from an internal complaint, and had been in low spirits for some time. A verdiot of uuioide while in a state of despondenoy was returned.
