THE BROKEN CABLES.
LIKELY TO BE REPAIRED TO-DAY
(Per Press Association.) Wakapueka, last night. Mr Solfe. New Zsaland manager of the Eastern Extension Company, states that the steamer Rooorder picked up tbe New Zealand end of one cf tbe broken oables at 945 p.m, Tbe Reoorder experienced severe weather, a fierce gale blowiDg for thirty-six hours. Tbe ship’s gear was wa-hed about, but no one wbb injured. Tbc Recorder is hold ng the cable end till four in the morniDg, when she proceeds to splice and join tbe two ends. Mr Selfe anticipates that the oable will be working to-morrow morning.
