The family bsunjuotod Mr Matthew Fowl'ln of Kilmarnock on the celebration of his ccntcnarv.
There were four hundred guests, in eluding Sir Joseph Ward, Messrs Robert McNab, Aiken, and George Fowlds, New Zealanders.
The King and Mr Seddon, Auckland and Eden friends, and the Auckland single-taxers telegraphed congratulations Sir 11. Campbell-Bannerman, Lord Onslow, and Mr W. P. Rsoves, High Commissioner for Now Zealand, sent apologies for not being present.
The centenarian, in a vigorous speech, acknowledged an oil-painting of himscli working at a weavers’ loom. All the members of the House of Commons present spoke. Sir Joseph Ward was given a great reception when replying to the toast ol “ Britons across the Seas. - ’
