Received 1110 p.m., May 21. Sydney, May 91. Tho Japanese rquadrou reoeived a demonstrative ■welcome on arriving from Melbourne. They were gcce-ed with ealutor from tho forts and warships, the Japanese vessels replying. Tne shipping and many buildings were lavishly deoorated with bunting. During the day the visitors were kepi busy paying and reoeiv ing oflioial calls, To-night tho squadron and other shipping and soma publio buildings wero brilliantly illuminated, presenting a splendid speotaeular effeot in spite of the hsavy rain, and a great crowd viewing it. Many social fucotions have been arianged in honor of the visitors.
