Tho Governor has received a. communication stating that the German man-of-war Condor will be at Auckland from May 21 to 27. Christohurob, last night. _ At the Supreme Court to-day William George Smith, on live charges of theft, was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment. John Ross pleaded not guilty to a charge of having December 26th kept and used a room in Colombo street for the purpose of betting with persons resorting The caso had been heard at the previous sittings, when the jury disagreed. This time also the jury disagreed, and the Crown Prosecutor stated that he would consider what steps he should take.
Auckland, last night. Rev. II H. Lawry, the well known Methodist Minister, diod to-day, aged 85.

Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association de* cided to-day to offer two golden medals of the value of two guineas each'for the champion Jersey bull hud cow respectively at the Canterbury Society’s show in connection with the International Exlrbition. A condi-
tion was added that the judges in the classes must meet with the approval of the Council.
