MEN POISONED.
(Per Press Aoaooiation.) Dunedin, last night. Two men employed in the oement Works at Ptliohet Bay were poisoned by hydrochlorio acid. Their names are MoKay and Anderson. As their oondition is critical their depositions were to bays been taken this afternoon.
FURTHER DETAILS. (Per Press Aasocdatioa.) Dunedin, last nigbt. Archibald MoKay and John Gillmour Anderson, employed at the Milburn lime and cement works, are at present in a critical position, presumably through inhaling poisonous acid fumes, They were engaged on Tuesday in removing zino from gaJvanißed wire by dipping it in a cask of hydrochloric or muriatio acid, and if is thought the fumes of acid, which has an extremely poisonous ao'ion, got into the men’s system through breathmg. They became very il! ou leaving off work, aod medical aid was called in, but up to the present neither of them has rallied to any extent, and to day the dying depositions were taken of J. Anderson, who is a single man and brother to the Drainage Board’s engineer. He was removed to the hospital. MoKay, wbc is a married man \yith a family, lyas found to be too weak tp make" any statement, and the doctor, who saw him considers bis oase hopeless.
