OBITUARY.
SHOCKING ACCIDENT TO MILL PROPRIETOR. By telegraph, Press Ass'n, Copyright Melbourne, April 24, Obituary ; Canon Carlisle, of St. Kilde, ictat 67.
(Fan Presa Association.) Napier, last night. A fatal accident occurred at Morrison Bros.’ sawmill, near Mokotuku, yesterday forenoon. Dunoan Morrison, one of the proprietors, was engaged jacking logs up on to the trolley, when he found one of the jacks a little short, and proceeded to chock the log before going for another jack. While he was doing so a log already on the trolley slipped, and came down oa Morrison, crushing him aoross the middle of the body. The Jog was removed as speedily as possible, and two dooiors were summoned, but tho unfortunate man’s injuries were so sovere that nothing could be done for him, and after lingering for about three hours, he died, remaining con* scious up to the last. Deceased wae only 22 years old, and bolorfgod to a family widely known and respeoted in the dir trios, his father being Mr Finlay Morrjsc sbtepfurm.r, of Makaretn.
Auckland, la-t night. Y Georgs Wnght, a trainer of racehorse B died suddenly lust night, aged 44, Dunedin, last night, Charles D-'ongville Graham, shipping reporter at Port Chalmers for 26 years, aud a ptominent Frec-ma.on, died this morning.
