FRASERTOWN.

The annual general meeting of the Wairoa County A. and P. Society was held in Parker’s Hall on Tuesday 17th inst. The balance sheet showing a credit balance of £6O odd was read and adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded ■ the out going president, Mr R. E. Jefferson. The secretary was voted £2O. Votes of thanks were passed to the treasurer, Mr A. E. Beckett, and the general and working committees. Some discussion took place as to the desirability of holding the show on the racecourse at Awatere instead of at Frasertown as heretofore, several members contending that the racecourse was the most central and suitable site. Ultimately Mr D. E. O’Neill tabled the following notice of motion: That a meeting of members be held at'. Frasertown on Saturday, sth May, at 2 pm , for the purposo of deciding where the show shall be permanently held.” At the meeting of the VVairoa Harbour Board on Tuesday, 17th inst., Mr Gilding of Napier was appointed secretary and wharfinger to the Board at a salary of £llO per annum. While entering the river on Tues« day last, the auxiliary scow, Fairburn, grounded, but floated at high tide. She brings a cargo of coal for Mr F, Bourke.
