HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETINGS.
GISBORNE SCHOOL.
The amtual meeting of householders was held in tho Gisborne school last evening. There was a large attendance, Mr Andrew Graham beiDg voted to the ohetir. The annual report, whioh has already been published, read by the Chairman (Mr A. Graham), was of a most satisfactory character. Adding to the report, the Chairman referred to the difference of opinion whioh had arisen in regard to the school boundaries at Kaiti, complaining that the Gisborne Sohool Committee had not been consulted in the matter. Speaking of the Gisborne school, Mr Graham said that it was not reasonable to eappose that the school bad deteriorated in any way. It had been unfortunate in losing Mr Morgan, who had bieo most assiduous iu his efforts towards obtaining scholar ship results, and tho competition from Other Bohools had also prevented the Gisborne sohool obtainiog tho success it had hitherto obtained.
Mr W. Morgan defondod *tho Inspector of Schools, Mr Hill, and Mr McLernon io regard to tho Kaiti boundaries. The repoit and balance-sheet together with the report of the SwimmiDg Oomm!ttae was adopted. SEPARATE EDUCATIONAL BOARD. Considerable discussion took plaoe in regard to the necessity of establishing a separata Educational Board for Gisborne. The subject was introduced by Mr Yardley, who made a strong speeoh in favor of a separate Board. ' The question being raised as to the order of business, the Chairman ruled that tho election of committee should follow ordinary businass.
Mr Yatdley moved that tho incoming committee should be instructed to tsko the necessary steps towards tho formation of a separate educational district for Poverty Bay. Mr J. Colley seoonded. Mr Darien moved as an amendment that the resolution of the householders should be forwarded direct to the Minister of Education. , A lively discussion followed, and finally {Jr Darton altered his amendrpent to in-

Tho motion was duly eeconded, and oarried unanimously. A vote of thanks was also accorded, to the outgoing oommitloo, sptc'al mention being made of tho sorvioes rendtrid by the Chairman.
WHATATUTU. Tho following oommittoe was elected at Whatatutu, great interest being' taken in the eleotion : Messrs W. Hay (chairman), B. Taylor, D. 0. Hawkins, W. Cooper, and A. Roke.
