This objection was anticipated, and last year a oommitteo of tho House reported on the petition, reoommondiDg suspension of tbo clause. The increase of oapital from £500,000 to £650,000 is to enable works to bo started in Now Plymouth simultaneously with Paparo3, where the Company is compelled by Government oonditioLS to start work, At the New Plymouth Borough Oounoil to night, re railway deviation, a resolution was carried that tho Aotiog Minister for lirilways bo informed that the Council oan obtain no reply from the general manager of railways to their reasonable requests, and that the Miois'or be asked to give instructions for an immediate reply.
