Knowles, the very celebrated comedian, is aboat to visit Gisborne, opening at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday nest, for a s:a«oa of three nights. It is said of him that as a wit, as a raoontour, and as a particularly original humorist, the great entertainer knows few rivals. The great vigor and torrential glibness with whioh he reels off bis stories, the quaint and wonderful agility of his dances, and the siDging of his songs as he alone knows how, stamps him as one of the world's brightest artists. Associated with the prinoipal theatres of England and America for many years, Mr Knowles was anxious, however, and ambitious for a higher sphere of work, and gradually gathered ■ together during many years of travel the hucleds of his present brilliantly successful monologue entertainments, *' Trifles that Trouble the Traveller,” and “ Songs and Stories of the Stage.!’ These entertainment's are said to be brimful of the very best of Mr Knowles’ many years of experience, and as full of bran-new jokes and funny stories as a gun oharged to the muzzle.
