A REIGN OF TERROR.
ALL ENTRY TO CITY CUT OFF. FIRE SPREADS TO RESIDENTIAL SECTION. By telegraph, Press Ass’n, Copyright Received 10.48 p.m., April 19. London, April 19. The two'-roof small towers of the City Hall, costing seven million dollars, collapsed. The Post Office was shattered. The Valencia Hotel and Kingsley’s Lodging-house collapsod, eaoh killing 80 people. The Great Department Store fell, burying the caretakers. Owing to the breaking of the gas and water mains, many fires, fanned by a brisk easterly wind, soon endangered the whole manufacturing and wholesale quarter. The firemen freely used dynamits to blast out pathways in the City blocks, The explosions were deafening, adding to the other terrors. Boon the section of the City south of Market street, and Third and Ninth streets was a ma s of flames. No ferries are running. All entry to the burning City has been stopped. Latest telegrams state that after destroying the business district the fire is spreading to the residential seotioh.
