The modern tall steel frame structure stood better than the brick and wooden tenements. SLIDE INTO BAY. Some docks and freight sheds slid into the bay. DEEP FISSURES. Deep fissures opened near the shore, THE WRECKAGE. The business district between Market and Howard streets from the bay as far west as the City Hall was especially wreoked.
