A FLOURISHING CONDITION. '(Pm Pres* Aasoclatlon.) Wellington, last night. The expenditure by the Oity Council on the purohase of properties for widening streets (Adelaide road, Elizabeth street, and Willis street) ba3 amounted to £148,685. Miscellaneous expenditure iu oompeasat'ou for parts of ground taken, labor, improvements, miteriil aad valuations has accounted for £26,067, making a grand total of £163,702. Tj meet this disbursement a sum of £IIO,OOO was raised by loan and a balance of £48,702 oame from the district fund. Oa the credit side of the undertakings the city has good showing.
