The agricultural interei ts of the State sustained almost irreparable loss by the death of William Farter, Government wheat experimentalist. Mr Farrcr, who was known a i the Burbank of Australia, devoted his life to breeding wheats of greater disease and drought-resisting qualities. So valuable were his researches in this direction that the Indian Government sent an official to consult with him on the subject.
