When seen this afternoon concerning the aotion of the Federal Company in rednoing fares and freights between New Zea'and and London, Mr Isaao Gibbs, general manager of the New Zeeland Shipping Company, said : —” The situation iB quite clear These people have been pinpricking us fur some time. Now (hey are attacking us, it goes without saying that we shall take the necassary steps to protect our interests, and our clienls may rest assured that they will receive aB favorable treatment from us as from any other line, The action of the Federal Houlder line necessarily eotaila an allround reduction of freights and fares. Whether these will be permanent or only temporary remains to be Been* Beyond this I have nothing to say.”
