A deputation of merchants and manufacturers urged tho Premier that tho State be represented at the New Zealand Exhibition. Mr Kidston said the return in tho past from similar expenditures bad not been largo. When Government considered tho mattor it was decided not to take any spaoe, and it did not seem the advantages would be commensurate with tho loss. There was nothing to prevent any merchants sending exhibits, but be oould not agree to Government spending money on the project.
