Forrest gavo a paper on trade and production in Australia. Ho declared it possiblo to largely increase minoral and other products with increased facilities. It was expedient to construct moro railways, especially to connect the oast and west. It was necessary to increase population. Government wrro determined to oncourogo good British immigrants, not only to inocoaso production, but for defence. Restriction of colored races was very necessary. If there bad been no restriction in the past, Australia would have had a larger colored than white population. If wise counsels prevailed in the States the Commonwealth would become responsible for debte. Tho es'ablishmont of one Australian stock would be advantageous to Australia. It would oommand a better price and be more sought after. Ho bolieved Australian cooeola would be as popular as British.
