A section of the Fynn tribe considered, besides refusal to pay the tax, the possibility of maesaoring the magistrate and any guard accompanying him. They also intended to attack the new eettlement. The magistrate fearlessly prooeediDg alorte to the plaoe where the tax was colleoted averted the danger.
