,(Per Press Asaoclation.) Wanganui, last night. News was received to-night that the Patea pilot (Captain Pet9rsoD) and his assistant (Charles Larsen) were drowned*” While taking foundings on the Patea bar this afternoon. The bodies have not been found.
TTTU-. Wanganui, iast night. While Martin Peterson, pilot at Patea, ana an assistant were engagad in taking soundings on tbe bar to-day, the boat they were in capsized and both were drowned. Peterson was formerly master of the steamer Aorore, and had been a couple of years at Patea.
