(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Industries and Commerce Department has reoeived the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, 17th inst:— [ Mutton : Stooks of New Zealand mutton aro firmly held in a few hands. Transnotions are of a moderate nature. The reooipts during this year only total 112,689 oaroases. The average price of Canterbury mutton to-day is 4|d, North Island brand 4£d, Australian 3£d, River Plate 3gd per lb.
Lamb : The market ia quiet in anticipalon of heavy arrival?, The average price of Canterbury brand is 5|3, other than Canterbury 5Jd. The Australian lamb supply exceeds the demand. There have been large sales at for beat quality only, ordinary quality selling at 3g 3, Beef: The market is steady. Stooks of New Zealand beef on hand are light. The average price of hindquarters is 3£d, forequarters 2£d. Butter : The market is steady. There is a fair demand for the better grades. Largo supplies are oomiDg forward for ordinary quality of Australian, which affects the market, The average prioe'of choice New Zealand butter to day is 104 s. Australian 98?, Danish 118? per owt. Cheese : The mariret is very firm at 62s perjowt, white, and 61s colored.
