THE PREMIER ASSERTS HIMSELF

(Pur Preßa Association.) Wellington, last night. Mr Field, M.H.R., speaking at Lsvin, suggested there was a flaw in the Eduoation Act of last session, and by it Eduoa* tion B:ards were justified in their aotion with regard to the appointment of teachers. He said it was not clear that it was obligatory the Board should submit six names to committee 3 , and both the Wellington and Wanganui Boards were malsing appointments under the old system. The Premier interjected : “ As Minister for Education, I shall refrain from allow, ing salaries to be paid in the ease of Bny appointments so made.”
