Dr. Palmer Btated tbo wounds were in* fliotod by ono in an frenzied condition, rather than by ono who desired to kill. Quinlan gave evidence in an oxtraorai□ary ond calm manner. He told bow bo committed tbo murder without being tbo least distressed. Ho had to pay for bis brother’s keep and cloth himself. He abo paid small instalments frem bis earnings to a money lender, from whom bii mother barrow.d money. He stabbed Mrs Gregory bs hia rushed at him. Ho retreated all tho timo. When he first went in tbo room nothiDg waß further from bis mind than using tho knife, whioh wes in bis pooket. Tho Government Pathologist eaid tbe boy had a decidedly abnormal head. When under observation in tho gaol he did not appear to havo odj emotion of re gret or fear.
