At the Police Court this afternooo, the Pubiio Health Department proceeded against two Chinese fruiterers on informations charging them with having on the previous day exposed bananas for sale that wore unfit for human consumption. An inspector of the Department deposed that ho purchased a dezan putrid bananas from each of the defendants’ shops. They were taksn from amongst others of a simitar kind in a baskot on the counter. The district Health Officer stated that hB bad condemned the fruit. Fines of JR were imposed iu each case. At tho instance of the Wellington Chamber of Commeroe the Pos’al Department has decided to admit code' addressee on inlapd telegrams.
