At tho railway enquiry tlie evidence of Commissioners’ Kirkaldio and Fehon disclosed' that inliarnlohious relations which existed before Commissioner Eddy’s death had continued practically over siDco, tho implication being that Oliver considered he had separate and superior authority to tho two junior Commissioners. On one occasion Oliver charged Kirkaldie, not then Commissioner, with trying to mislead the Commissioners. Kirkaldie warmly repudiated this. Eddy suggested that Kirkaldie; to Oliver. .Kirkaldie claimed that an apology was more' dfle to him, ariddf not forthcoming he would, leave the room. Eddy said if he left the room he .would leave the service.
