Wellington, last night, The Citizen’s Life Assurance Company has taken up a quarter of a mil* lion of Government debentures. R. 8. Low, the Alpinist who was lost for 10 days, owing to injuries received through a fall from an ice-covered couloir, was brought down to Timaru today from Fairlie, and is now in Timaru hospital, where he will remain to recuperate. New Plymouth, last night. George Stokes, a chemist, a young j man, whose people reside at Auckland, met .with a serious accident whilst b "cycling in Devon street this morn*' .-, He collided with a pedestfh' „nd was thrown heavily, and fra md his skull. He is unconscious, anc lis condition is critical. The pedestrian was uninjured. The Dairy Conference continued today, and was largely attended by private dairy proprietors.
