MELBOURNE CLUB’S TOUR. (Per Press Association.) Christohurab, last night. The match Canterbury v. Melbourne Club was concluded Saturday, the visitors winning by nine wickets. The weather waß perfect, the wicket in good condition, and the attendance large. ’ On the previous day Canterbury had made 135, and Melbourne 123 for five wickets. Melbourne conoluded the innings for 267, tbe ohief scorers beiog Mailer 15, Bainsford 50, Armstrong 82, McLeod 37, Henty 12, Aitken 84, and Wilkies n ■ 20. Aitken gave no chance, and his largo score included six 4’s, fivo B's, and twelve 2V; Bennett and Malone, who took most of the wickets, bowlod vory steadily, though the latter’s length wai occasionally at fault, Canterbury’s seoond innings was little better than tho first, Olliver at times showed how Armstrong should be dealt with by putting bim to leg, and Sims a'so made some good length bits, but genera ly tbe men wore at sea to bis stuff. MoLeod kept a splendid length, and little oould be done with him, while Butler rattled down the wiskels at bis end in quick time. The visilors’ fielding was splendid, evoking round after round of applause. The innings ended for 153 (Orchard 11, Ol'iver 53, J. D. Lawrence 14, Sims 28, aud fabart 28), leaving Melbourne 22 to got to wiD. This was compiled with tho loss of ono wicket, that of Jennings, who was given out leg beforo wicket.
