The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4 LSI per lb ; for other and North Island mutton 3/j 1 por lb, Australian 3d, River Plate 3 1-81. Light woigbts : There is only a small supply of heavy weights, Australian iamb being used instead. The lamb market is weak, Australian being in large supply. There is an inclination to force sales, It is estiP mated that there aro 300,000 carcases at s prosent at tbo store here, and 200,000 on J the way. Tho average price to day for j New Zealand lamb is s]d per lb, Australia 43. J Tho beef market is quiet. The stocks | of Now Zealand on hand aro light, Tho avorsge ptico to-day for hindquatters of ’ New Zouland beef is 3Jd per lb, fores 2 7-83 (nominal). The butter market is firm for best quality, and supplies will be moderate. Tho average for choicest New Zoaland butter to day Is 107 s per ewt, Danish 115 s, Austra ian 103 s, and Argentine 107 s. The cberss market is firm, and there is a good demand at 62s per cwt. The hemp marker is steady, but there is less demand. Tho price of New Zealand hemp, “ good fair Wellington " grade, on spot to-day per ton is £32 10s ; April and Juno shipments £3l 10s. The cocksfoot eo-d market is firm, and th-re arc only light stocks cn hand. Heavy scod is scaico. Buyers have been offering more freely.
