COMPANIES ABANDON FIGHT AGAINST STATE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Tho result or the conference cf managers of Int-urance Companies held in Wellington last week is tbat tbe war between the State cilice and companies has been brought to an end. The companies have decided to abolish the higher rate charged by them for oertain risks which the Slate office would not accept in toto, aud have also decided to accept reinsurances Rod share risks with the State office. The conference resolved to terminate the attitude of companies towards risks which were partly covered in Slate office, and to reduce tho higher rate charged on certain risks.
