INOCULATION OF CALVES.

Wellington, last night. •Ihe veterinary division of the D-part-ment of Agriculture hai received no defioite report* from infected areas in Taranaki regarding the a'loged heavy mortality after inoculation for blackleg. It has bosn deoidod, however, that the Assistant Chief Veterinarian shall person ally direct the remainder of the inoculation of calvee, so that ho may bo on the spot in ease of mortality to make a postmortem examination. The statement that inoculation has beeu stopped is untrue. From the beginning of next week about six thousand calves will bo inoculated. What has happened ie that the’Chief Yet. has asked for ell material in hand add syringes to be sent oaek to Wellington for examination. Tbo virus ' was made at the Wa'laceville Laboratory undet'epeoial instruedons from Pro’csjor Salmon, head of tbo United States Veterinary Buread. Experiments made with same virus that was supposed to be bad has proved it to bs quits goed.
