PROCEDURE IN NO LICENSE DISTRICT.
Per Press Association- - Auckland, last night A moeting of the Grey Lynn borough Council was bell th's morning to consider the question as to whe’bo - or not a 1 casing oommittee Bhould Lo elected, seeing that no license was .enried at the recent local option poll. The Licensing Act of 1895 stated.that under such circumetances it was not necessary to eket a oomm'ttee. The Licensing Aot of 1904, however, repealed the Act of 1895, therefore things remained as before, and the n taming offic.r is of opinion thst a committee requires to be ilected. This view is also taken by the returning officer for Auckland. As, however, a committee would be useless in a no lioense district the Grey Lynn Council conenlt-d the boroogh solicitor, His opinion was that the Grey Lynn Council being the “ local authority” may exercise its discretion upon the matter.
