At yesterday’s wool sale the following prices were obtained :—Medium crossbred in fair condition lOd to 10£d> coarse crossbred bright 9id to 10d, inferior ooarse crossbred B£d. to 9d, medium orossbred pieces 7d to 7£d, inferior pieces 6d to 7d, locks 4d to sd, superior bright lambs lOd to IOJd, averego lambs 9d to 9£d, inferior lambs 7d to Bd, according to condition. The Colonial Consignment and buting Company has received the following wire from its London office Center- • bury mutton 4}£d, Napier, Wellington, and North Island 3Jd, new soaeon’s lamb s|d ; beef, hinds 3|d, fores 2^d.
SHEEP FAIR.
(Per Pies® Asmoi*kTHfia*4 Auckland, last night, The annual sheep fair of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy was held to-day. Competition was vary keoD, The quality of sheep was a deoided improvement on previous years, and the sale was most successful, showing a rise in prioe for good breeding ewes from Is to 2s per head over la9t year’s rates. Prices for other sorts rnled about tbe same. In ewes Mr McElwain, of Waiuku, obtained top price for a pen of hoggets, which realised 275. Lambs sold up to 12a 6d, and wethers to 18s 3d. In rams there was very keen competition for Lincolns, one ram realising 30 guineas, a rcoord price for a flock ram. It was sold by Mr O. T, Barriball, and bought by Mr R, A. Bent. All other classes of sheep, with the exception of black .faced varieties, were eagerly sought after, The prices were the most satisfactory that have been obtained for some years past.
