"At the inquest touching the death of a Vailway fireman named Hennelly, who was killed by a fall of about 25 feet from the engine of a train which was crossing a bridge, just beyond Henderson station, the jury came to the conclusion that it was a case of accidental death, no blame being attach* able to anyone.

, Dunedin, last night. Obituary.—Mr John Philip . Armstrong, the first dentist in Dunedin. Deceased was a member of the Otago Provincial Council for eight years.

Nelson, last night. A miner named Samuel Lattimer was killed in his claim at Rocky river, Collingwood district, on Saturday morning, by a fail of stone from the roof of a tunnel. His mate, named Keane, narrowly escaped, receiving a severe blow on the head. The two were standing together lighting candles, preparatory to commencing work, when the catastrophe occurred. Lattimer was crushed to death instantly. At the inquest a verdict that death was due to insufficient timbering in the drive was returned. Deceased’s age was 51, and he was well-known in the district.
