YOUNG MAN DROWNED.
SUPPOSED VICTIM OP A SHARK. (For Presa Association.) /* Auckland, last night. Farther particulars regarding tUe drowning of the young man Herbert Thomas at Motutapu show that he p/t- into a dingy, intending to row to a neighbouring vessel to get bait. Whoa some yards off he lost an oar, aiid plunged over to recover it. He caught it and tarnßd to swim back. He was plainly visible in the moonlight, when to the horror of his companions he suddenly sank beneath the surfaoe. As he did hot rise again those on board set eail and cruised round in the vicinity of tho spot, but no sign of the unfortunate young man could be seen, and as he was an expert swimmer they oame to the oonolußion that he had been seized by a shark. The missing man was employed lon tbe meo* , banical staff at His Majesty’s Theatre, and his fatheris similarly employed with the j McMahon Dramatio Coy. Young was .one of Knight-Jeffries Coy’s rntfst valued servants.
